The aim of this unit is to assess learners against the national standard carrying out emergency rescue and recovery of casualties from a realistic high risk confined space environment. The learner will show that they can prepare to work safely under emergency conditions and enter and exit confined spaces safely. The candidate will also prepare and use appropriate respiratory protective equipment (RPE) and use rescue equipment safely The candidate must follow procedures in order to deal with emergencies in practice.
The unit teaching will typically take place over the course of one day
Preparing to work safely in confined spaces under emergency conditions
Entering and exiting confined spaces safely
Preparing and using appropriate safety equipment according to manufacturer's specifications
Using rescue equipment safely according to manufacturer's specifications
Understanding how to carry out emergency rescue and recovery of casualties from confined spaces
Understanding how to apply relevant industry standards for carrying out emergency rescue and recovery of casualties from confined spaces
Dealing with emergencies whilst following procedures and working safely
